Biography
Alessandro Marzani
received his Laurea
(MS) Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy
in 2001,
and subsequently enrolled in a PhD program at the University
of Calabria, Italy.
From 2002 to 2004 he worked
as researcher at the Structural Engineering Department of the University of California,
San Diego,
where he earned an M.S. degree in 2004. After receiving the PhD degree
in the
2005, Dr. Marzani was appointed as a post-doctoral Fellow and few months
later
as Assistant Professor (since October 2005) at the Faculty of
Engineering of
the University
of
Bologna. The
research of
Dr. Marzani focuses on guided waves based non-destructive techniques for
monitoring and measurements of materials and structures, structural
stability
of conservative and nonconservative systems, signal processing
strategies and
numerical modelling. He is currently serves as a consultant in the National
Association
of Unification (UNI) for the standards on non-destructive piping
inspection; is
a member of the Guided Wave ISPESL group for drafting guidelines on
pipelines
monitoring by guided waves and is a member of the Guided Wave CICPND
working
group, who cared for the qualification and certification of personnel
involved
in the guided waves based monitoring methods. Dr. Marzani
has been a registered professional engineer in Italy
since
2001. Research Interests
- Non-destructive evaluation techniques of materials and structures
-
Ultrasonic guided wave propagation
- Stability of non-conservative systems
